SPC Operation Safe Commerce Program Managers Brief DHS Vendor-Integrator Forum
New York, N.Y. (Sept. 14) The program managers for System Planning
Corporation's Operation Safe Commerce (OSC) efforts presented the company's key
project findings at a Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS) Vendor-Integrator Forum
held today during a Maritime Security conference here.
Bruce Gerrity, CPP, who managed SPC's support for the Port Authority of New
York-New Jersey (PANYNJ), one of two trade line efforts managed by SPC to
enhance cargo container security, addressed an audience of senior DHS officials
and industry team members at New York City's Jacob Javits Convention Center.
Dennis Michael Egan, SPC's senior OSC project manager and the program manager
for its effort supporting the Port of Seattle-Tacoma, also participated in the
forum. Both Gerrity and Egan fielded questions from DHS panelists representing
directorates involved in border and transportation security, infrastructure
analysis and protection, science and technology, and domestic preparedness.
Gerrity outlined SPC's efforts in developing and testing an innovative cargo
container security system, which has the potential to improve the nation's
supply chain security.
