SPC Completes Preliminary Anthrax Incident Report
Arlington, Va. (Mar. 25) -- System Planning Corporation (SPC) today announced
that it has completed and submitted a preliminary assessment of its findings
into the local and state response to the March 14 anthrax false alarm at the
Pentagon and at an office building in Fairfax County.
The after action review, based on interviews with response officials in
Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, includes an incident and
communications timeline to help assess the response among agencies involved. The
review will be combined with the Department of Homeland Security investigation
into the federal response to the event.
System Planning Corporation was awarded a contract March 17 by the Commonwealth
of Virginia to conduct a formal After Action Review (AAR) of the state and local
response following the suspected Anthrax events in the National Capital Region
(NCR).
Virginia Governor Mark R. Warner, Maryland Governor Robert B. Ehrlich, Jr., and
District of Columbia Mayor Anthony M. Williams jointly announced that the state
and local review would coincide with a federal interagency review initiated by
Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff and is being coordinated by the
Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
