SPC’s TriData Division Completes Louisville, Ky. Fire Dept Study
Arlington, Va. (Dec. 6) -- System Planning Corporation’s TriData division received praise from the mayor of Louisville, Kentucky for its recently completed comprehensive review of the city’s fire department, which resulted in a number of recommendations to improve service and department efficiency.
“The completion of this report gives us the information we need to create a 21st century plan to better protect our community,” Mayor Abramson said in a statement.
TriData’s study included an intensive review of the facilities, apparatus, and infrastructure of the Louisville Fire Department (LFD). The review began in May. TriData presented its findings to Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson in November.
The comprehensive analysis of data TriData collected resulted in 34 major recommendations. Of the recommendations, nine of them included station consolidations, or building new ones at their present location. The facility plan proposed by TriData recommends that fire station needs could be phased-in over the next 15 years.
If all recommendations are implemented, the LFD would operate from five fewer stations than it has now. Overall response times from city fire stations would remain as good, if not better, than it is now, and services would be delivered more efficiently. Ultimately, TriData’s analysis showed that Louisville could reduce the total number of stations if they were better located.
