System Planning Corporation to Assist Commonwealth of Virginia with Virginia Tech Incident Review
Arlington, Va. (Apr. 25) -- System Planning Corporation (SPC) today announced that its TriData division will provide research and staff support for the Virginia Governor's panel reviewing the circumstances surrounding the recent shooting tragedy at Virginia Tech.
Virginia Governor Tim Kaine made the announcement in a news release Saturday.
Yesterday, Gov. Kaine and the panel's head, former Virginia State Police superintendent W. Gerald Massengill, visited SPC headquarters here to discuss the company's role in the review. The governor met with SPC Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ronald L. Easley; TriData division President Philip Schaenman, who will lead the company's effort; Director of TriData's Center for Public Protection Hollis Stambaugh, who will serve as deputy project manager; and the SPC CEO's Senior Advisor Charles L. Cragin, who also will consult on the matter.
System Planning Corporation (SPC) and its TriData division have extensive experience in management consulting, emergency preparedness and response planning, and in conducting reviews and assessments. SPC/TriData reviewed the response to the Columbine High School shooting in Colorado in 1999 and prepared a report that was published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) U.S. Fire Administration (USFA).
SPC and TriData previously provided the Commonwealth of Virginia with an assessment of the response to Hurricane Isabel in 2003 and reviewed circumstances involved in the alleged positive anthrax test at the Pentagon and nearby DoD offices in 2005.
SPC/TriData has performed studies and analyses for federal agencies, including the Depts. of Justice and Homeland Security, FEMA and USFA, and more than 250 state and local agencies across the country.
